Mark Oblow | Proof Lab
RVCA advocate Mark Oblow’s artwork is inspired by his travels. He immerses himself in the beauty of the places he visits and, most importantly, the people who inspire him. Once he returns home from trips, it all becomes part of his on-going visual journal entries. After traveling to Japan and Hawaii in the past month, the photos he shot became part of his next journal piece, but this time, on a 8’ x 24’ long mural outside of Proof Lab in Mill Valley, Northern California, just over the Golden Gate Bridge.
While in Japan, Oblow collaborated with renowned calligraphy artist, friend and Japanese national icon, Mami for the RVCA Shibuya store. Directly following Japan, he shot photos in his homeland of Oahu, Hawaii while launching his capsule slipper collection with fellow RVCA advocate, Zak Noyle. As always, every part from start to finish is by Oblow, so the photos he shot in both places and the people that inspired him turned into a colorful and welcoming multi-faceted mural for Summer Solstice on June 21, 2019 as his gift for Proof Lab and the people of Mill Valley.
Live music by The Alive!, BBQ, drinks, skateboarding, and we were fortunate to have some of the best people attending this outdoor jam. He then asked his 9 year old chosen niece, Indiya Chang to collaborate on her very first mural project with him, which was memorable, heart felt and the essence of Together Together.
